To initiate the certification process, the following documents are usually required:

  • Completed certification application
  • Management system manual (if available)
  • Documented procedures and work instructions
  • Relevant process records (internal audits, management reviews)
  • Company registration certificate
  • Domain-specific licenses, authorizations, or permits
  • Organizational chart
  • Management system scope declaration

The exact list of documents will be communicated after the initial review. Documents may vary depending on the chosen standard.

Certification is the process by which an independent body evaluates and confirms that an organization's management system meets the requirements of an international standard (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.). This process involves a detailed documentation review, followed by an on-site audit where auditors verify how the organization implements and maintains the standard's requirements. A positive evaluation result leads to the issuance of an internationally recognized certificate of conformity.
Duration varies depending on the size of the organization, field of activity, and chosen standard. Typically, the complete process takes between 2 and 8 weeks from application submission. This period includes the documentation review, audit planning, the audit itself, and the certification decision. For organizations with multiple locations or complex management systems, the duration may be longer, as each location needs to be evaluated individually.
We offer certification for a wide range of international standards: ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), ISO 45001 (occupational health & safety), ISO 13485 (medical devices), ISO 22000 (food safety), ISO/IEC 27001 (information security), ISO 50001 (energy management), ISO 20252 (market & social research), ISO 37001 (anti-bribery management), ISO/IEC 42001 (artificial intelligence management), ISO 22301 (business continuity), ISO 37301 (compliance management). Each standard addresses a specific area of organizational management, and our team of auditors has relevant competencies across all these fields. You can request certification for one or multiple standards simultaneously.
Certificates are typically valid for 3 years from the date of issue. During this period, annual surveillance audits are conducted to confirm continued compliance of the management system. At the end of the 3-year cycle, the organization can request recertification through a complete renewal audit. If major unresolved non-conformities are found during surveillance audits, the certificate may be suspended or withdrawn.
You can verify any certificate issued by TOTAL ISO CERT OEC using the Verify Certificate section on our website, by entering the unique code printed on the certificate. Our verification system displays the certificate status in real time (valid or expired), the certification standard, the certified organization's name, and the expiry date. This feature is available 24/7 and can be used by any interested party — clients, business partners, or authorities.
Usually required: the completed certification application, management system documentation (manual, procedures, work instructions), process records (internal audits, management reviews), relevant licenses and authorizations for your field of activity, the organizational chart, and the management system scope declaration. The exact list of documents may vary depending on the chosen standard and the specifics of the organization, and will be communicated in detail after the initial review of your request.
If non-conformities are identified during the audit, they are classified as minor or major. The organization receives a clear deadline for implementing corrective actions — typically 30 days for minor non-conformities and 90 days for major ones. Once the organization demonstrates that corrective actions have been implemented and the root causes addressed, the auditor verifies the effectiveness of the measures taken, and the certification process can continue. The presence of minor non-conformities does not prevent the certificate from being issued.
In general, ISO certification is voluntary and represents a strategic decision for the organization. However, in practice, certification often becomes a market necessity: many public tenders include ISO certification as a participation requirement, and business partners, especially multinational companies, may require certification as a contractual condition. In certain regulated sectors, such as medical devices or food safety, certification may also be required by regulatory authorities.
Certification demonstrates the organization's commitment to quality and best practices, increases customer and partner trust, improves internal process efficiency, and can open access to new markets and tenders. Beyond these direct advantages, certification contributes to reducing operational risks, better internal organization, and creating a framework for continuous improvement. Additionally, an internationally recognized ISO certificate strengthens the organization's reputation and provides a real competitive advantage in relationships with clients and authorities.
